ECHA launched a public comment on two proposed SVHC substances

On March 9, 2017, the European chemicals agency (ECHA) announced a public comment on two potential substances of high concern (SVHCs). The 45-day public comment period ends on April 24, 2017, and stakeholders can comment on the ECHA website. Bisphenol A has previously been added to the SVHC list because of its reproductive toxicity, and this time the French proposed it again because of its endocrine disrupting properties on human health.

The substances that have passed the review will be included in the candidate list of SVHC as the 17th batch of candidate substances.

If the following two conditions are met, the goods manufacturer and exporter shall notify ECHA within six months after the substance is included in the SVHC candidate list:

I. The content of the substance in the article exceeds 1 ton/year/manufacturer or exporter;

Ii. The percentage concentration of a substance in the article by weight is greater than 0.1%.
